At the moment a baby is born, the mother is born too. She never existed before. The woman existed, but as a mother, she is brand new.

A woman on the cusp of new motherhood is a captivating sight. Strangers want to talk to her, to touch her beautiful belly, to bask in the glow of this wonderful time of life. She is poised on the brink of a major life transition, a profound rite of passage in a time that sorely lacks in ceremony and ritual.

This is an entrancing transition, and it is a privilege to share this time with women and their families.  Although the birth and life of a new baby is sometimes turbulent, mothers all around strive to provide a tender and gentle environment for their little ones. As mothers who love our children, we all want to have easy access to products that work, but that are also safe and gentle.

And so, Gently Does It was conceived and born to help all New Zealand mothers to nurture and cherish their babes tenderly, lovingly, gently.
